Fall and Dirt Bikes. Perfect Match.

Fall and dirt bikes: Can you ride in the rain?

The leaves are falling, the air gets crisper, and we start to wonder – for how long can we keep having fun with our trusted rides until they must be put in a winter’s sleep? As much as we love snowboarding and other cool winter sports, nothing beats a good-old adrenaline rush while riding a dirt bike. No wonder, many of us try to get the absolute maximum of the season, even if the rain showers catch us unexpected.

So can you ride your dirt bike in rain? The answer is 300% yes – and even more, they are made for that! Riding your motorcycle in the rain can be an amazing adventure, especially for all the adrenaline junkies out there. Slipping and sliding on loose mud can be crazy fun, but we have to warn you – if the bike is left out in heavy rain for a longer time, a mechanical and cosmetic damage might occur. Another risk is safety – the mud gets slippery and the possibility to fall and get injuries increases dramatically. Some daredevils might say – the riskier the better (and we cannot judge them), but we must remind you to think of yourself first.

Mechanically, the water can cause some pretty bad damage to your ride – only if it gets into the motor parts of the bike. The chance for this to happen is very low (unless the track is flooding), so you shouldn’t worry about that if you’re riding in a drizzling or light rain.

What about the looks?

Leaving your dirt bike in rain seems like a terrible idea, although the drizzling is not going to kill it… if it’s for a short period of time. While it’s true than rain can cause rusting on your ride, you can avoid the issue by cleaning your bike as soon as you get back home.

We are absolutely sure about the exceptional quality of OMX graphics, and be sure you can leave your bike in heavy rain for several days in a row and it will not damage Your dirt bike decals at all. To ensure your motocross graphics kit holds on like it’s supposed to, keep your ride indoors if it’s heavily showering for a longer period of time.

Tips for riding dirt bike in rain:

1) Choose a waterproof riding gear! That means everything from boots and socks to gloves. To truly enjoy riding in the rain, you have to stay warm and dry. Also don’t forget to put your phone and other important items in a ziplock bag.

2) Choose a high visibility gear and bike decals! When it’s heavily raining and you’re all dressed black (including your ride), it’s harder for other riders to spot you in the track. Fully custom motocross graphics in ultra colourful and various designs will make you look awesome and stand out against the rainy blur. 3) Think smart and be careful while riding through puddles. It’s hard to determine how deep they are when full with water, so it’s smarter to just stay away. Also don’t go too deep in mud so the motor gets covered, as it could provide some serious damage.

Let’s get the last thing clear:

Can you ride your dirt bike in snow?

The answer is straight yes – although is not the most common activity and more suitable to all the hardcore dirt bikers out there. For that you must do some modifications to the motor and tires to make it “winterized”. There are many modifications available for each condition of the snow so you can get the best out of the winter months.
