Q&A with the founder of OMX Graphics, John

Behind every great brand is a person with a great idea. For OMX Graphics, the soul and mind of the company is John. Here, we chat with John about his greatest achievements, founding one of the leading dirt bike graphics companies and setting the trails on fire since childhood.

We know that you’re quite a petrolhead yourself. How did you get into riding dirt bikes?

I was about 5 or 6 years old when I got the taste of mud for the first time. That became pretty addictive since then! One of my friends had KTM 50 and we took turns to ride it. It was just mad! We were a gang of small hooligans, to be honest. Sometimes I even wonder – how the hell we got out of it alive. I was crashing literally all the time! 

So the thrill of riding never got boring since then?

No, not really. I sticked to riding even though my mom was strictly against it. She was always pushing me to join some football or basketball classes and stuff like that. Motocross can obviously get more dangerous than playing football on the field. On the other hand, football is named as one of the most dangerous sports out there, so go figure (laughs).

How did you decide to start OMX Graphics?

It’s simple – it all started as I just couldn’t find a graphics kit for myself. That time it was quite impossible to find a kit that would tick all the boxes. You know, I wanted a full package – the looks, the quality, the price and a nice customer service. It was 2011 when I came up with the thought that I should just create something like that. You know, purely for myself and my buds. After that, more and more guys came asking for something similar. So it was clear that the market has a huge gap of nice mx graphics and suddenly I had a product that filled it perfectly. That’s how the company was born. 

What is your key to success?

Our aim was to offer premium quality, original and affordable graphics that would be available to everyone. Now we can gladly see that we made it. It’s been almost 10 years since the very beginning, and now we have 4 offices all over the world. And they are nicely equipped too. We have the latest printing and cutting technologies that makes us stand out. That includes time and practice-proven working technique and highly skilled staff. The team of OMX definitely is the biggest piece of puzzle. I’m sincerely thankful to have the chance of working with such a talented and bright-minded people.

How would you describe OMX in three words?

Passion, dedication, quality.

What is your favourite graphics kit and why?

Do I have to name just one? Man, that’s impossible! Quite many of them are my personal favorites. Ok, if I would have to pick a new graphics kit for my ride, I would go for Dazzle. I like the clean lines, sharpness and simplicity of the design. It is sleek and sophisticated, yet aggressive. 

What are you working on right now?

I can reveal that we have something big coming up. I’m talking about crazy rad designs that is something totally cool and unique. Nothing could make us more proud than sporting OMX logo on such a dope stuff. So as you can hear, we are pretty stoked about the new graphics collection. Get ready for some fresh bestsellers!

How are you recharging yourself?

Nothing makes me so relaxed and energised at the same time as getting lost in the woods. At the end of the day, it’ all still about riding. Lately, I’ve started learning horse riding as well. It’s just one horse power but it still counts. And of course, the biggest inspiration is the love of my life – my beautiful woman.

What are your ambitions for the future?

We definitely feel like we’re just getting started. In the beginning we were sort of fumbling around. We were trying out and testing different kinds of material to find absolutely the best one suited for racing. We topped off the technology and never stopped developing the huge base of various design options. And look what we have now – top positions on the market, thousands of stoked customers, and a great deal of opportunity to grow.
